In 2003, I had just moved into a new neighborhood and was dealing with a lot of anxiety from different things happening in my life. A few years prior, a friend had raved about how amazing yoga was; when I tried it, I didn’t have a good experience. This time around, I was desperate for something, so I went to my local Y to give it another shot.
Fortunately for me, I got an amazing teacher who brought the spiritual part of yoga to the class –something that was missing from that first class I tried. This was just what I needed. I was instantly hooked. There was something in the movements of the body, in the asanas that created a feeling I hadn’t known before.
That, combined with the sound of Om, felt like magic. Whatever it was, I was curious and wanted to pursue it, to investigate it. And here I am, so many years later, still practicing, still curious.
